The product is non-ionic cellulose , mainly used as filmogen and gels of thin film coating and emulgator, suspending agent and stabilizer of ointment. The concentration generally is 2%-10%. In tablet granulation, it is used as adhesive, with concen­tration generally of 2%-5%. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is widely used in oral and topical preparations, mainly used as adhesive of tablet, thin film coating material and framework material of sustained-release tablet; for low viscosity, it can be used as adhesive of wet granulation tablet and adhesive of dry granulation; and the hydroxypropyl methylcellulose with high viscosity can be used as retardant of framework of tablet and capsule, with the function of delaying drug release.

Properties of HPMC:
