Description of DOPO-ITA/DOPO-DDP CAS No.: 63562-33-4
(6H-Dibenz[c,e][1,2]oxaphosphorin-6-ylmethyl)-p-oxide-butanedioic acid, often referred to as DDP, is a complex organic compound recognized for its unique structural features and potential biological activities. This compound, with the molecular formula C₁₇H₁₅O₆P and a molecular weight of 346.27 g/mol, has garnered attention in various fields, particularly in flame retardancy and potential therapeutic applications.
Application of DOPO-ITA/DOPO-DDP CAS No.: 63562-33-4
DDP serves as a crucial building block in synthesizing phosphorus-containing flame retardants. Its derivatives have shown remarkable flame-retardant properties when incorporated into materials like silicone rubber. The phosphorus content plays a vital role in forming a protective char layer upon thermal decomposition, which enhances fire resistance
1. Application in epoxy resin
It is widely applied in the flame retardant of functional polymer materials, such as electronic components encapsulating material, potting material, electronic equipment plastic, circuit board and other high-tech materials. DDP can be used as curing agent of epoxy resin. It can be cured completely with bisphenol A epoxy resin (DGEPA) at 160℃. When the mass fraction of phosphorus reaches 1.7%, the flame retardant test of cured epoxy resin can reach UL94V-0 grade.
2. Application in polyester
DDP can be copolymerized with PET, PEN and PBN. With the increase of phosphorus content, the flame retardant performance of the copolymer increases. When the phosphorus content in PET reaches 1%, the phosphorus content in PEN reaches 0.48% and the phosphorus content in PBN reaches 0.97%, the flame retardant test of DDP can reach UL94V-0 level, and it has good physical mechanical properties and thermal stability. It can be applied in the production of polyester and nylon slices, filament, staple fiber, fabric, film and other permanent flame retardant polyester, flame retardant polyester slices has good color, spinnability, hydrolysis resistance, dyeing resistance.
Study 1: Antimicrobial Efficacy
A detailed investigation into the antimicrobial properties of DDP revealed that it could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli at low concentrations. The study utilized standard agar diffusion methods to assess efficacy, with results indicating zones of inhibition significantly larger than control samples .
Study 2: Flame Retardant Performance
In another study focusing on flame retardant applications, DDP was incorporated into silicone rubber composites. The resulting materials exhibited enhanced thermal stability and reduced flammability compared to untreated samples. The char formation mechanism was analyzed using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), highlighting the effectiveness of DDP in fire safety applications
Advantages of DOPO-ITA/DOPO-DDP CAS No.: 63562-33-4
DDP exhibit high thermal stability, excellent oxidation resistance, and outstanding water resistance, making them suitable as both reactive and additive flame retardants. These compounds are primarily used in polyester fibers, polyurethane foams, thermosetting resins, and adhesives. Due to the presence of phosphorus-carbon bonds in their structure, their flame-retardant performance surpasses that of conventional phosphate esters.
